You will need this registration or notification if you intend to operate a food vending machine. Food vending machines are deemed to be food premises, and therefore, are required to be registered or notified under legislation.
There are three classes of food vending machines, for which different regulatory requirements apply:
- class 2: unpackaged, potentially hazardous foods, such as fresh orange juice
- class 3: foods not commonly associated with food poisoning, such as pre-packaged sandwiches or pre-packaged pies
- class 4: low-risk foods such as packaged chocolate, lollies, chips, or cans or bottles of soft drink.
For more information regarding the requirements specific to each class of vending machine, please see the attached supporting information.
