You will require this registration if you wish to operate a electrolysis mitigation and cathodic protection system. A electrolysis mitigation and cathodic protection system is a system that is designed to use direct electric current to protect metallic structures from corrosion. This may be used on many metallic bodies including:

  • boats
  • railways
  • steel supports.

Eligibility requirements

All application for an electrolysis mitigation and cathodic protection system must now be submitted and managed online via ESVConnect. ESVConnect is the primary system for online regulation of the electrical industry in Victoria. All applications must:

  • include a completed authorisation form from the cathodic protection system owner or a completed consent form from the cathodic protection system operator (if the owner is not the operator)
  • be accompanied by a layout map and system drawings showing the proposed location of the cathodic protection system
  • copies of the contacts made with any structure owners likely to be affected by the system and their response/s
  • include the payment of the relevant registration fee.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

Compliance with the current codes and standards of use will be required. Current details of the registration must be maintained on the register.
