You will need to register as a community housing agency if you intend to provide community housing services in Victoria.

Community housing is secure, affordable, long term rental housing managed by not-for-profit organisations for people on low incomes or with special needs.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for registration, you must:

  • be a non-profit body
  • be established to provide affordable rental housing to people on low incomes
  • be a company limited by shares or by guarantee, a co-operative or an incorporated association
  • not be a subsidiary or acting as a trustee for any person other than a registered agency (unless approved by the Registrar)
  • provide a copy of the constitution or rules of the agency
  • meet performance standards.
