You will need this registration if your site temporarily stores less than 10 cubic metres of double-wrapped, non-friable asbestos, not generated on-site. This is if the storage is for a period of no more than 60 days.
Your site must be permitted for use as a transfer station under a planning scheme and allowed to accept asbestos, or it must be used as a depot by a:
- electricity distribution company
- gas distribution company
- water corporation
- telecommunications carrier (a public utility)
- contractor of a public utility, that stores only asbestos generated by the public utility
- contractor of the public utility that's 100 metres or more from sensitive land uses. This includes residential premises, health services, child care centres and education centres.
