Venue Operator's Licence - Victoria

Description

You will need this licence to operate gaming machines on an approved premises. You may apply for a club venue operator's licence or a hotel venue operator's licence. Only one venue operator may conduct gaming in each venue.

If you are currently a wagering and betting licensee, you may appoint a wholly-owned subsidiary company as an operator. The company must have a physical place of business in Victoria and be approved by the Commission.

Eligibility requirements

Only a body corporate may apply for a venue operator's licence.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

There are prescribed advertising requirements associated with this licence. Gaming is limited to 20 hours or less per day unless the Agency has approved 24 hours gaming.

 

Notification requirements and time frames apply in relation to this licence. You must not modify a gaming machine area without the approval of the Agency.

 

The Agency may vary, amend, suspend, cancel or terminate this licence or issue a temporary monitoring licence at its own instigation or upon request.

Duration

All applicants for a new licence will now be granted a 10 year licence from the date of approval.

Please complete the applicable form and lodge with payment with the Agency together with any other requested specified documentation and information.

Within 14 days of applying for this licence you must advertise a notice in a newspaper circulating in the area and generally in Victoria containing the prescribed information and a statement that any person may object to the grant of the licence and specifying the grounds for objection.

Transfer

The Agency will not record a transfer of a gaming machine entitlement until it has received all amounts owing to the State that are outstanding in relation to the gaming machine entitlement, such as:

  • any unpaid purchase price for allocated gaming machine entitlements
  • any prescribed fees relating to the transfer of the gaming machine entitlement under the Act
  • any interest payable on overdue instalments for the purchase of gaming machine entitlements allocated under either the Pre-Auction Club Offer or the Gaming Auction held in 2010 in accordance with the Act
  • any fines imposed on the current venue operator who is seeking the transfer of a gaming machine entitlement.
