Wagering and Betting Licence - Victoria

Description

You will need this licence to conduct wagering and approved betting competitions in Victoria.

Only one wagering and betting licence may operate at any one time and the licences are not transferable to any other person.

From August 2012, a single twelve year wagering and Betting licence was granted to Tabcorp Wagering (Vic) Pty Ltd.

A temporary licence may be granted to another applicant in the event that the existing licence is surrendered or cancelled.

The holder of the Wagering and Betting Licence may appoint a Victorian company that is a wholly-owned subsidiary as the operator of the licence.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • register your interest with Secretary of Department of Justice when called to do so by the Minister provided you have a physical place of business in Victoria and are not a natural person or prohibited person
  • be invited by the Minister to apply for a wagering and betting licence
  • satisfy the legislative requirements to hold this licence
  • apply in the prescribed form and include all required information and documentation
  • lodge your application in accordance with the procedural requirements specified by the Minister
  • pay the prescribed fees.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

The agency will specify a number of operating requirements when granting the licence, including compliance with all legislative requirements and obtaining approval to use race fields information.

Failure to comply may result in disciplinary proceedings or the cancellation of the licence.
