Australian Standard AS 2187.1:1998 Explosives - Storage, Transport and Use - Storage - Victoria

Description

You will be required to comply with this standard if you intend to manufacture or store explosives.

The holder of a licence to store large quantities of explosives must ensure that all employees are trained in the requirements of this standard.

This standard applies to:

  • portable magazines
  • relocatable magazines
  • fixed or permanent magazines
  • bulk storage
  • underground storage.

It contains a range of requirements including:

  • specifications for security fencing for premises used to store explosives
  • minimum separation distances between buildings containing explosives and any magazine or other building
  • minimum separation distances between a place where an explosive mixture is manufactured and vulnerable facilities.
