To be eligible for individual registration as an architect in Victoria you must:
- have an accredited academic qualification in architecture or a pass in the National Program of Assessment
- have a minimum of 2 years recent practical experience and knowledge of the competency-based standards
- successfully complete the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia (AACA) Architectural Practice Examination (APE) including logbook submissions
- make your application to the Board on the approved form, with accompanying documentation and the required fees.
Registering as a practising architect will also require you to provide proof of Professional Indemnity insurance cover.
Company and partnership registrations are available where at least one director or partner is suitable for individual registration and the purpose of the registration must include the practice of architecture.
Architects registered in other States or Territories and New Zealand may register in Victoria without further examination. Registration fees apply. Please consult the Registration Board for more information.
