Registration of Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory - Victoria

Description

You will require this registration if you intend to assess livestock for infection with diseases. Any diagnostic examination of a sample or specimen taken from livestock (for the purpose of assessing whether the livestock is infected with any disease) must be conducted at a registered veterinary diagnostic laboratory.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

You must ensure that:

  • any test, analysis or diagnostic examination is carried out in accordance with any applicable standards prescribed by the Agency
  • you keep and submit records to the Agency as required
  • your laboratory is accredited in accordance with AS ISO/IEC 17025 - 2017 General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories (or the latest version of the standard)
  • you take part in programs to test the proficiency of your facilities and operational practices as required by the Agency.

Small veterinary diagnostic laboratories may be exempt from the need to hold accreditation / compliance with accreditation standards.
