Approval as a Veterinary Nurse - Western Australia


You will require this approval if you intend to work as a veterinary nurse. With this approval you may assist a registered veterinary surgeon to perform procedures. You may also provide certain veterinary services yourself under the supervision of a registered veterinary surgeon. This approval also allows you to provide limited veterinarian care without supervision.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this approval, you must:

  • have successfully completed a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing
  • submit the required forms
  • pay the required fee.

Holders of other qualifications, such as ones from overseas and interstate, can apply to have their qualifications and experience assessed to determine whether it meets the requirements for registration in Western Australia. This can be done by completing the prescribed application form and sending it to the Veterinary Surgeons Board with any supporting documents of qualifications and experience.
