Approval of an Electrical Appliance - Western Australia

Description

You will need this approval if you intend to manufacture, sell or hire out an electrical appliance. An electrical appliance is an appliance fitting, wire, or other apparatus or material intended or designed for use in or in connection to any electrical installation.

Certain types of electrical appliance cannot be sold or hired unless they have been approved by the agency, and stamped and labelled in accordance with the regulations.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this approval you must provide:

  • samples and information (including drawings, photographs and labels) relating to the electrical appliance as needed by the agency
  • a test report from a facility recognised by the agency setting out the compliance of your appliance with all relevant standards.

The testing of your electrical appliances / equipment will need to be carried out by appropriately qualified people who have undertaken the necessary training.
