Description

You need approval if you intend to hold a non-thoroughbred horse race with a stake, prize or for betting purposes. This approval does not cover the holding of a thoroughbred horse or a harness race.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this approval, you must:

  • not be a registered racing club
  • not be eligible to apply to become a registered racing club
  • ensure there is no Approved Racing Organisation eligible to hold the race.

You will also need to supply the agency with a copy of the rules under which the race is proposed and details of the racecourse at which it proposes to hold the race. To grant this approval, the agency must be satisfied that the rules you have provided are suitable.
