Approval to Keep Poultry, Pigeons and Other Birds - City of Albany - Western Australia

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to keep more than a certain number of birds in a residential area. Poultry includes hens, fowls, chickens, roosters, turkeys, geese, peacocks or peahens. The number of birds that you are allowed may vary depending on whether you are a member with a bird club (e.g. the Pigeon Racing Federation of Western Australia). You are allowed to keep more birds if you are a member of a club.

Pigeons are not to be kept within a caravan, any land that has a group dwelling or multiple dwellings. The holder of this licence must also keep pigeons on land greater than 600 metres squared, unless otherwise approved by the council.

Poultry can be kept in a residential area without this licence if they number maximum of 12 (maximum of two ducks), are housed appropriately, and they are enclosed securely. You will need this licence if you intend to keep more than twenty-five poultry in a special rural area or more than fifty poultry in a rural area.
