Approval to Keep Poultry, Pigeons and Other Birds - City of Karratha - Western Australia

Description

You will require this approval if you intend to keep poultry or pigeons in a residential zone.

No more than 12 poultry and 12 pigeons may be kept on a premises in a residential zone. If you are a member of a poultry or pigeon club you may keep up to 100 birds on a premises in a residential zone.

The permission of the Council is also required to keep roosters, geese, turkeys or peafowls on any land other than land in a rural or a rural residential zone.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this approval you must:

 

  • specify the number of poultry or pigeons you propose to keep
  • provide a site plan showing lot size, location of enclosure, distance from boundaries and buildings and proximity to houses on adjoining land.

The Council may also conduct public consultation with your neighbours before considering your application.
