Description

If you intend to open or use a public building where people will assemble for activities, gatherings or prearranged events, the building will need to be inspected and approved to ensure it meets a range of emergency, safety and amenity requirements.

A public building is a building or similar structure where persons may assemble for social, business, religious, entertainment, recreational or similar purposes. Examples of public buildings include churches, private schools, cinemas, pubs, nightclubs, recreation centres, circuses, halls and auditoriums. Crown owned buildings and hospitals are exempt.

This certificate must specify the type of activity that the building will be used for and the maximum number of people that can be safely accommodated in the building.
