Asbestos Assessor Licence - Western Australia

Description

You may need this licence if you intend to work as an asbestos assessor. Asbestos assessors:

  • conduct air monitoring during Class A asbestos removal work
  • conduct Clearance Inspections for Class A asbestos removal work
  • issue Clearance Certificates in relation to Class A asbestos removal work.

Asbestos assessor licences are not mandatory in WA until 31 March 2023. Over the first 12 months of WHS laws in WA, the work normally done by an asbestos assessor can be done either by an independent competent person or by an asbestos assessor.

To be eligible for this licence, you must have:

  • acquired training or experience of the knowledge and skills of relevant asbestos removal industry practice
  • hold a certificate of completion for an asbestos assessor VET course or tertiary qualification in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, science, building construction or environmental health.
