You may need to comply with this standard if you intend to manufacture, supply or operate a prime mover used in a B-double or a road train. The performance of the service, secondary and parking brake systems of your prime mover must comply with this standard.
This standard specifies braking requirements on commercial motor vehicles and large passenger vehicles to ensure safe braking under normal and emergency conditions. All prime movers used in a B-double or Road Train over 19 metres in length must comply with either version 2 or 3 of these design rules. All prime movers built after 1989, or which pull a tanker carrying dangerous goods must have an anti-lock braking system that complies with the third edition of these design rules.
