Australian Standard AS 3786-1993 Smoke Alarms - Western Australia

Description

You may need to comply with this standard to manufacture a smoke detector that contains Americium 241. A smoke detector is a device incorporated into a smoke alarm that responds to combustion products capable of affecting currents of ionisation within that device.

The radioactive substance Americium 241 may also be exempted from the provisions of the Act and Regulations provided it is used in a smoke detector which complies with the requirements of this standard or Australian Standard AS 1603.2-1990.
