Australian Standard AS 4240 Remote Control Systems for Mining Equipment - Western Australia


You will need to comply with this standard if you are an employer or manager at an underground mine and you intend to operate remote controlled equipment.

Your remote controlled equipment must conform to this standard. This standard provides guidance for the design, construction and general safeguarding of remote control systems for mining equipment. This standard is applicable to both coal and metalliferous mining machines used in surface and underground mines.

This standard does not apply to an underground coal mine which has remote controlled equipment which conforms to AS 2381: Electrical equipment for explosive gas atmospheres, and AS 4871: Electrical Equipment for Mines and Quarries.
