Australian Standard AS D8-1971 Hose Couplings for Use with Vacuum and Air-Pressure Braking Systems on Prime Movers, Trailers and Semi-trailers - Western Australia

Description

Note that this standard has been updated and you will need to meet the requirements set out in AS 4945-2000.

You will need to comply with this standard if you intend to operate a B-double or road train. The brake line couplings on the same part of a vehicle in a B-double or road train must be polarised in accordance with this standard.

This standard specifies the requirements for the interchangeability, minimum safety requirements, and position of couplings on vehicles for vacuum systems and for air pressure systems (two types). It also applies to caravans fitted with vacuum braking systems.
