Authorisation as a Vehicle Examiner - Western Australia

Description

You will need this authorisation if you intend to examine and test vehicles in Western Australia. This authorises a person to issue certificates of inspection for vehicles that must pass specific requirements to be registered.

Vehicles that may need inspection certificates include those intended to be registered in Western Australia and:

  • have previously been registered in another state or territory
  • have been unregistered for more than 90 days
  • have been declared a total loss (written off) and subsequently repaired
  • have been issued a defect notice (yellow sticker / work order) by police
  • have undergone substantial modifications
  • require regular mandatory examinations (e.g. buses and passenger transport vehicles)
  • have passed an inspection, but the inspection certificate has expired.
