The purpose of this code is to assist the safe use of explosives in situations where a specific additional hazard may exist due to the possible unwanted reaction between an explosive and the rock being blasted. In such situations, the unwanted reactions may result in premature detonations with potentially fatal results. The reactions can be caused by rock chemistry or temperature, or a combination of both.
