Code of Practice - Fatigue Management for Commercial Vehicle Drivers - Western Australia

You must comply with this code if you intend to drive a commercial vehicle. This code applies to commercial vehicle drivers whose work time either:

  • exceeds 60 hours per week
  • exceeds more than 10 hours out of any 24 hour period more than once a week
  • includes the period from midnight to 5:00AM.

The purpose of this code is to provide practical guidance to industry on requirements in occupational safety and health regulations for driving commercial vehicles. The code promotes a systematic and considered approach to organising trip schedules and driver rosters to minimise the hazard of fatigue.
