Collector Licence - Western Australia

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to collect firearms, major firearm parts or ammunition. Firearms held under this licence cannot be used and must form part of a genuine and defined collection.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence, you must:

  • be 18 years or older
  • be a fit and proper person
  • provide proof of identification
  • undergo a Firearm Authority Health Assessment
  • complete a Firearm Safety Training Course
  • provide supporting documentation relevant to the firearms you intend to keep and use
  • demonstrate you are a student of arms and have been a member of an approved society of collectors for at least 6 months prior to your application being submitted.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

You will be required to maintain certain records as a condition of your licence.

Every firearm, part, or item of ammunition you collect must fall within the scope of your collecting interest and have significant commemorative, historic or thematic value.
