You will require this approval if you operate as a bookmaker and intend to offer a computerised betting system.
A bookmaker provides wagering (betting) services to the general public at race courses or sporting grounds. As a bookmaker you are required to keep records of the wagers that have been made with you. You must record the details of a bet onto a betting ticket for issue to the bettor, and then duplicate this information in your own ledger. This approval allows you to use a computerised system for each of those steps.
In order to conduct the activities of a bookmaker at a specific racing course or sporting ground, you must also have received permission from the authority that controls the course or grounds.
Please consult the Contact Officer for more information.
