You may need this approval to undertake any development, building activity or activity involving the extraction of raw materials.
Development or building activity includes demolition, erection, construction, alteration or addition to any building or structure, and carrying out any excavation or other works. It also includes changing the purpose or business activity that the land is used for (e.g. specifying that the land will be used as a residential premises or a caravan park).
Local and regional planning schemes and interim development orders provide guidance on what types of development and building activities require approval. In some instances, approval from the state planning authority will be required instead of, or in addition to, approval from the council.
Please contact the council for more information.
