These guidelines are intended to be used as a tool that promotes an understanding of safety and security and outlines the types of possible design approaches for different types of electrical infrastructures. These guidelines examine the use of physical security and other measures that should be used at new installations to reduce the likelihood of exposure to electrical hazards to the public. The guidelines are aimed at community safety, with particular emphasis on children and youths, rather than other security threats.
