You need this licence to undertake extraction activities, which includes quarrying or excavating stone, gravel, clay, limestone, loam and other materials. It also covers related activities, such as:
- removing vegetation and topsoil
- stockpiling, excavation and earthworks
- loading trucks and associated vehicle movements
- blasting rehabilitation.
This licence applies to all land except Crown land. It does not apply to mineral extraction authorised under mining legislation, or to landowners extracting materials from their own land solely for use on that land. You may also need planning approval before operating your business.
