Fishing Boat Licence - Western Australia

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to control or operate a boat for commercial fishing purposes. Commercial fishing is fishing for financial gain or reward. If you are the person who is in day to day control of a boat used for commercial fishing then you must ensure that the boat has a current fishing boat licence. Please note that a copy of this licence must be carried on-board the boat at all times.

You may need to install an approved automatic location communicator (ALC) on your fishing boat as a part of the fishing boat licence. If this is the case, then the installation, use, servicing and testing of the ALC must be carried out in accordance to approved directions.

This licence does not authorise you to undertake commercial fishing. Every person who fishes from your boat must hold a separate commercial fishing licence (unless that person is a participant in a fishing tour on the boat).
