You will need to comply with this code if you intend to provide fitness services. Fitness services include:

  • exercise screening
  • individual or group exercise programs
  • providing fitness equipment at a gym for use by clients.

This code aims to:

  • ensure appropriate standards of services are maintained in the fitness industry
  • encourage and maintain customer confidence in the fitness industry
  • support and promote the fitness industry.

This code does not apply to:

  • registered medical practitioners
  • registered physiotherapists
  • sports training provided by a sporting club
  • fitness services provided by an educational institution for exclusive use by staff or students
  • people training in or performing martial arts, dancing or ballet
  • using a spa bath, sauna bath, swimming pool or similar facility if no other fitness service is provided
  • fitness services provided solely for medical rehabilitation
  • hiring court facilities for playing sport.
