You will require this licence if you intend to take protected flora from Crown Land for commercial purposes. All flora that is native to Western Australia is protected throughout the State. Protected flora is defined as any plant (including any wildflower, palm, shrub tree, fern, creeper or vine) or any part of a plant, including seeds and spores. For this licence, flora does not include specifically controlled sandalwood.
The commercial collection of flora species listed as Priority on the department's Threatened and Priority Flora List is also not generally permitted. Applications will only be approved where the activity will assist in the preservation or protection of the Priority flora species of interest.
Your licence may require you to pay royalties to the Agency. Please note that if you intend to take flora from private property you will need a different licence.
