You will need this authorisation if you intend to establish an inspection station. Inspection stations are areas which can be used by authorised vehicle examiners to inspect and test vehicles to provide certificates of inspection.
Vehicles that may need inspection certificates include those that are intended to be registered in Western Australia and:
- have had a defect notice issued on the vehicle (also known as a yellow sticker or work order)
- have been substantially modified (e.g. engine, chassis and suspension modifications, changes to vehicle dimensions)
- be subject to requirements that they be examined regularly (e.g. buses and passenger transport vehicles).
