Licence to Keep a Kennel Establishment - Town of Port Hedland - Western Australia

Description

You may need this licence if you intend to operate a kennel or keep more than the prescribed number of dogs on your premises. The prescribed number of dogs will differ between councils.

Some councils will offer a separate application for keeping more than the prescribed number of dogs on your property. This application is usually for non-commercial purposes.

Your premises will be inspected by the council ranger to determine if it is suitable for the proposed purpose.

Eligibility requirements

An application for this licence must:

  • Be accompanied by a plan showing the details and specifications of all kennel and yards including the intended distance from the kennels to the boundaries of the land and the subject of the application;
  • Give notice of the proposed use of the land in writing to the owners and occupiers of all adjoining land and premises;
  • Advertise the intention to do so in a newspaper having circulation in the area at least 14 days before application is made to the Council; and
  • Ensure that the kennel structures are a distance of not less than 10 meters from the boundary of any street.
