Major Event Order for Aerial Advertising - Western Australia

If you are the organiser of a major international or national level event, you may apply for an event order to prohibit unauthorised aerial advertising for the duration of your event. Examples of major events include the Olympics or high profile national sporting championships. Aerial advertising includes advertising:

  • by sign writing by an aircraft
  • by advertising on a banner or other sign towed by or attached to an aircraft
  • on an aircraft, hang glider, parachute, paraglider or similar device.

Service type

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for an event order you must satisfy the agency that:

  • your event is a major event
  • your event has commercial arrangements that are likely to be adversely affected by unauthorised aerial advertising
  • the operations of the event are likely to be adversely affected by unauthorised aerial advertising.

In deciding whether your event is a major event, the agency will consider the likely attendance numbers, media coverage, and projected economic benefit and contribution to Western Australia's profile as a host of major events.
