Description

You will need this licence if you intend to act as the pilot in a port. A pilot is a mariner who guides vessels through dangerous or congested waters, such as ports, harbours or river mouths.

  • hold a Master Class 1, 2 or 3 certificate of competency
  • undertake a required number of transits as a trainee pilot
  • complete an approved training course
  • have adequate skills and knowledge of the pilotage area
  • meet the required health standards.
