Permit to Keep Bees - Shire of Chittering - Western Australia

Description

You may need this permit if you intend to keep bees on your premises. This permit will not be granted if the bees are likely to cause a nuisance to the area.

Conditions and restrictions will vary depending on the Council area you are in. For example, you may not require this permit if:

  • your premises are classified as rural and you keep the bee hives at a prescribed distance from any adjacent property
  • you are not keeping the bees on your premises for longer than 8 weeks in a 12-month period
  • you are keeping bees for the purpose of pollinating a crop on your land.

Please be aware that you will need a separate approval to keep bees on Crown Land.

  • constructing a barrier to keep bees from flying low over adjacent land
  • the number of bee hives allowed on your land.
