Service type

Licence

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this permit you must:

  • be a fit and proper person
  • demonstrate you meet the double door requirement for both indoor and outdoor aviaries where you intend to keep restricted birds.
  • ensure every aviary is secured with wither a padlock or another suitable locking device

The double-door rule requires there be a door on the aviary and at least one internal door and one external door of the house between the birds and the outside. Any aviary or enclosure kept outside must have an antechamber (a small entry space with two doors) so that one door is always closed before the other is opened.
