You will need this permit if you intend to manufacture, possess or use a branding device. A branding device means any device capable of being used to ink or stain a brand onto the body of a slaughtered animal, including any meat from that body. The brand is a mark or stamp that describes or implies the definition of the meat.
Your permit will describe in writing the type, size and description of the branding devices that can be manufactured. Every branding device in possession, care or custody must be kept securely or kept in the custody of an inspector and be maintained to the required standard.
