You may require this licence if you intend to conduct mining exploration or prospecting activities in Western Australia's onshore areas. There is no limit to the number of licences you may hold.
The maximum area for a prospecting licence is 200 hectares. A prospecting licence authorises you to excavate, extract or remove a total of up to 500 tonnes. You will need to apply for the Agency's approval if you intend to extract more than 500 tonnes.
You cannot apply for a prospecting licence in respect to land which is currently the subject of a mining tenement.
Please note that you require a separate Miners' Right to actually conduct the prospecting itself.
Please consult the Contact Officer for more information.
