Registration as a Veterinary Nurse - Western Australia


You will need this registration if you intend to practise as a veterinary nurse. Veterinary nurses:

  • provide certain veterinary services under supervision, including dental work or superficial surgical procedures
  • examine and provide basic care without supervision, including dressing wounds and providing post surgical care.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible, you must:

  • have sufficient physical and mental capacity
  • be sufficiently proficient in the English language, both written and oral
  • be a fit and proper person
  • have successfully completed a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, or any other recognised qualification
  • meet the prescribed requirements (if any).
