You will need this registration if you intend to carry on the practice of architecture under the title of an architect. You must not advertise yourself as an architect, practice architecture, or provide architectural services unless you are registered as an architect.
You may apply to register as either a practising or non-practising architect. Practising architects need to have a certain level of indemnity insurance and undertake professional development to maintain their registration. Non-practising architects do not need indemnity insurance or professional development to maintain their registration and are generally:
- retired
- academics
- no longer living in Western Australia.
You will be entitled to registration as an architect if you are a registered architect in another State or Territory or New Zealand.
