You will need this licence if you intend to operate premises that are prescribed by legislation to have a low risk to cause emissions of noise, odour or electromagnetic radiation, or discharge waste. Please see Schedule 1, Part 2 of the Environmental Protection Regulations 1987 for a complete list of prescribed premises.
The types of prescribed premises that need this registration include premises used for:
- intensive livestock housing of cattle and pigs
- chemical manufacturing, processing or handling
- water treatment or desalination
- ceramic goods manufacturing.
This licence only authorises ongoing operation of the premises. Prior construction works at a premises may need Works Approval. If your premises has a higher risk of emissions, it may be prescribed under Schedule 2, Part 2, and you may need to apply for a Premises Licence instead.
