You will require this registration if you intend to sell or distribute restricted publications in Western Australia. Publications are classified according to the National Classification Code. Certain publications are restricted to adults because they contain material which may cause offence or is unsuitable for a person under the age of 18. There are two classes of restricted classification:
- category 1, generally includes sexualised nudity
- category 2, shows actual sexual activity between consenting adults and may only be sold on adults only premises.
Publications include any written or pictorial material, such as:
- computer games
- newspapers and periodicals
Your application must specify each of the premises at which you intend to sell or distribute restricted publications. Additional premises can be added to your registration on request.
Please consult the Contact Officer for more information.
