Retention Licence (Onshore Minerals) - Western Australia

You will require this licence if you hold prospecting licence or exploration licence, and you intend to postpone the development of mineral resources located within the area covered by that licence.

A retention licence is a holding title for a mineral resource which has been identified but, due to existing circumstances, cannot be mined or explored until a later date. A retention licence will allow you more time in which to plan to develop the resource, and to obtain financing.

Please note that whilst a retention licence is in force you may not remove more than 1,000 tonnes of material from the land covered by the licence.

Please consult the Contact Officer for more information.
