Schedule 8 Medicines Prescribing Code - Western Australia

Description

You are required to comply with this code when prescribing Schedule 8 medicines in Western Australia. If you are an authorised prescriber of Schedule 8 medicines, you may prescribe opioids for the treatment of pain without acquiring individual authorisation, so long as prescribing is in accordance with the code. Prescribing Schedule 8 benzodiazepines or any Schedule 8 opioid treatment that meets any of the criteria set out in Section 2.5.1 of the code requires prior authorisation for each patient.
