Scientific Purposes Licence (Marine) - Western Australia

Description

You will require this licence if you intend to take flora or fauna (including fish and pearl oysters) from a marine nature reserve, marine park or marine management area for scientific purposes. Taking includes injuring, destroying, hunting or otherwise interfering with flora and fauna.

Marine parks, reserves and management areas are water and / or land in Western Australia, which have been declared as reserved to help conserve marine biodiversity and marine life.

Flora that is native to Western Australia is protected throughout the State and is defined as any plant (including any wildflower, palm, shrub tree, fern, creeper or vine) and includes any part of a plant, including seeds and spores. Fauna means any animal native to Australia, and any animal that periodically migrates to and lives in Australia and includes any animal declared to be fauna by the Agency.
