You will need this licence to act as a security consultant. Security Consultant licences are available in four different classes for different types of work.
You will need a class one, two or three licence to enter into contracts to supply items of security equipment. Each licence class authorises you for different types of items and equipment as follows:
- Class 1: Safes, vaults and locks
- Class 2: Security alarms, CCTV for security purposes, electric fences, bulletproof doors or screens and associated equipment
- Class 3: Security doors
- Class 4: Watching, guarding and protection of property.
You may hold more than one class of licence at the same time.
You may only work as a licensed security consultant if you are employed by a licensed security agent, unless you are a sole-trader, in which case you will also require a Security Agent Licence. You must apply for the agent's licence separately.
You may be able to apply for a temporary licence of up to one year if you are an interstate visitor and hold an equivalent licence in your home state or territory.
