Significant Development Authorisation - Western Australia

Description

You may need to request authorisation if you intend to undertake a significant development. A significant development is a development within Western Australia that:

  • has a value of $20 million or more for proposals either wholly or partly in the Perth or Peel region scheme or Swan Valley Planning Scheme areas
  • has a value of $5 million or more in other parts of the State
  • raises issues of State or regional importance.

Applicants must contact the Western Australian Planning Comission prior to the submission of an application. If the request meets the value threshold for eligibility, the application will be made directly to the Western Australian Planning Comission (WAPC). Otherwise, the request must be made to the Minister for Planning, who may then request the Premier to authorise the development to be eligible for determination by the WAPC.
