You may need to comply with this specification if you are the master or owner of a seagoing ship.

It is a criminal offence for a master or owner of a ship to allow the ship to begin a voyage unless the ship is equipped with radio equipment as required by the regulations. One of these requirements is that the radio equipment must be a single sideband installation which meets this specification.
