You will need this licence if you intend to carry out drainage plumbing work but do not hold a plumbing contractor's licence. Drainage plumbing work is work that involves the installation, alteration, extension, disconnection, repair or maintenance of underground pipes and other fittings used for carrying wastewater to sewer, or wastewater or other waste to a sewage treatment apparatus.
This licence authorises you to carry out specified drainage plumbing work as well as supervise an apprentice doing that work. However, you must do so under the general direction and control of a licensed plumbing contractor.
This licence does not authorise you to certify that plumbing work complies with the relevant standards. This can only be done by a licensed plumbing contractor.
You may be able to apply for a provisional version of this licence if you hold a plumbing qualification from another country. This provisional licence enables you to work in Western Australia under supervision whilst completing Australian context training and gaining experience in local conditions.
